Start Spy is a nice little application which basic goal is to keep a trace of the Windows sessions that occured on your computer.

The program records a log that contains, for each session, the name of the user who logged in, the date and time at login and logout, and the total session duration.

By browsing this log list, you can see in a wink what where the last sessions on your computer and find out who was the last user (very useful to spy your children ...).

Another feature of Start Spy is its ability to raise alarms: you can set an alarm to warn you at a specified time, or when Windows has been running since a given duration.

System tray menu

Start Spy is very discreet and will stay idle in the System tray, until you click on its icon to view the log list or to set some options.

Start Spy statistics

Start Spy also includes a Statistics module. In this window are summarized some figures about the sessions, logins and logouts that have been recorded in the log.

They tell you about the shortest, average and longest durations of the sessions, and the earliest and latest logins and logouts, with full time and date.

But one of Start Spy's coolest features is undoubtedly its brand-new Safe mode. In Safe mode, Start Spy records the current time every minute, so that if your system crashes it will be able to tell you with an average accuracy of 30 seconds when the crash occured, and you'll still know the duration of the session until the crash.
